The Panasonic PVDC2090 Digital Camera

Panasonic PVDC2090 Digital CameraThe Panasonic PVDC2090's compact size, double memory-card capacity, and high-quality LCD viewfinder make it an ideal choice for those needing high-quality digital imaging without advanced grouping or scripting capabilities. One of the more compact digital cameras available, Panasonic digital camera handles much like a traditional point and shoot. Its stand-out feature is its double memory-card slot--you can buy an extra CompactFlash card to store over 200 images total. (The camera does include one 8-MB card.)

Although the PVDC2090 doesn't have more advanced features such as album grouping or scripting capabilities, we found it more than adequate for our tasks. The LCD viewfinder moves smoothly when you frame your pictures, and the option buttons are all clearly marked. The Panasonic PVDC2090 lets you choose between 1280 x 960 and 640 x 480 resolution and also offers the option of shooting in black and white. You can record normal still images, record in bursts (every 0.5 second up to 16 frames), and even record images every 0.1 seconds to create a four-second minimovie. You can also choose time-lapse mode, which lets you select intervals of up to 24 hours between photos.

This Panasonic digital camera lets you manually adjust exposure; it comes with a variety of preset focus and white-balance options. You can also choose between spot and center-weighted light metering. During playback, you can specify either single or multi-image review.

As with most digital cameras, the Panasonic PVDC2090 drains AA batteries at an alarming rate. We highly recommend investing in a few sets of rechargeables and a charger--and keep fresh batteries with you as you shoot.
